2019-02-18: Talked to My Family Today!

Playing American Football with E. Wamsley This week was super more awesome!! Hahaha. I know I say every week is awesome. But really, for me, looking back each week, I’m amazed at all the cool things that happened and how often I can see God’s hand in my life. This week was great. Martes/Tuesday we had a super awesome day. It was kind of funny because we had a full day of citas/appointments, but we headed towards each one, and literally all but two fell through. Dang! So we had a ton of time to kill, but we kept working and eventually had some good lessons. We met with a lady named Migelina and her husband Alejandro. We talked with them for a while (kind of mostly Quechua), and then started teaching them a little bit about the Plan of Salvation. It was going pretty well until the husband stopped us and said he was super tired and wanted to go to bed, but that we could come back later. I’m not sure if we did something wrong or what. I don’t know, but hopefully we can help the...

2019-02-11: Staying in Betanzos!

Just messin' HOLA!! Well, this week was super awesome, and we got a ton done. But it was also super, super exhausting. Hahaha. I know it doesn’t make a lot of sense because we are just walking or riding bikes and talking with people all day, but still I’m always tired. Anyways this week was awesome. Martes/Tuesday after our district meeting we went back to Betanzos. After lunch, we went to work. We had several pretty good contacts (that we ended up having good lessons with later in the week). We also had a super good lesson with Silvia and also got to meet her mom and teach her too. We taught about the Plan of Salvation, and it was super cool to help them clarify and learn more about things they had learned from the Bible. It was a super awesome lesson. We also visited with Max (tiene como 15 aƱos), and normally he doesn’t talk very much. (He is kind of shy.) But this time, we tried just being friends and talking with him, and he started to open up a little more and we ...

2019-02-04: Raining

E. Vergara and Me, E. Sorensen! This week was pretty crazy and a bit different but still super awesome. Martes/Tuesday we did an intercambio/exchange. I went with Elder Pusarico (from La Paz, Bolivia) to Betanzos. My comp stayed with Elder Keate in Potosi. Martes was a pretty good day. We had a ton of citas planned and lots more people to look for, so we were super busy and something awesome about Elder Pusarico is that he loves to contact or just talk to anybody so that was super awesome. We talked to a ton of people. We had a super good lesson with one of our investigadores named Silvia. We taught about the Book of Mormon and how it is the keystone of our religion. I know, without a single doubt, that the Book of Mormon contains the complete truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that when reading it and applying the teachings to our lives, we can really live more happily. I also know the Bible is the word of God and contains many very powerful teachings and examples th...

2019-01-28: Every Week is Awesome!

Me & E. Vergara This week was awesome. Of course every week is awesome.   Anyways, martes/Tuesday was lots of fun. I stayed in Potosi and went on like a goofy intercambios/exchange with Elder Keate and Elder Bird (in E´ Bird’s area). My comp went with E´ Keate’s companion in their area. It was a little different being in a trio (three elders not just two like normal), but it was lots of fun. We had several super cool experiences. The coolest for me was when we were teaching a family about the principles and ordinances of the gospel. It was super cool because I was just listening to the other two elders teach, and I felt the Spirit super-duper strong. I was thinking how it’s kind of crazy that here we are in Bolivia, three different guys from totally different places, teaching the exact same thing that we each know is true. It made me think how the things we are teaching, really, truly do come from God, and they are really His words and ideas. It was just another powe...

2019-01-21: Flying By

Hiking - Jan 14, 2019 pday activity Well, another awesome week flew by. It always seems like yesterday was just pday. Hahaha. Well martes, we did an intercambio/exchange (since my comp is district leader). So I was with Elder Nieto (from Ecuador) en Betanzos. We had lots of fun. We didn’t have any citas/appointments, but we had a ton of people to look for so that’s what we did, and it went pretty well. We ended up getting to teach a less-active member that we have been trying to meet with for a long time. It was interesting to see how things that happened sooo long ago still have effects and how this person is still holding on to those feelings. It made me think how I never want to be like that and how it will always be better to forgive and move on with life instead of holding feelings of anger. It was also cool because we shared Mosiah 2:41 , and it reminded me that the real true happiness we can feel will be when we are keeping the commandments from God and working to be...

2019-01-14: An Awesome Week!

This week was super duper awesome! We had an awesome baptism and worked really hard but also had tons of fun. I love being a missionary and helping other people find true happiness. Me and David. He is one month younger than me. Well ok, martes/Tuesday our district meeting was super good. (I love 1 Nephi 19:9 , it makes me think if Jesus did all that for me because He loves me and wants me to be happy, I should love Him too and try harder to do the things He asks of me. I also learned I should develop this love for other people and put their happiness and needs above my own.) Anyways, we got back to Potosi and then after lunch, went to work. We had several people with goals to be baptized the coming Saturday, so we really needed to meet with them. Well, we only found one of them (Remberto), and we had a super good lesson with him, but he is a little hesitant to be baptized because he wants a firm solid testimony before he makes that choice. We explained how that was good but ...

2018-01-07: Week 1 of New Cambio/Transfer

Elder Sorensen y burro This week was a little crazy but super busy and tons of fun. So Elder Bird, Elder Tellez (de Colombia) and I spent New Years at the family of their pensionista. We were allowed to be out until like 2a (permission from mission president, kind of relaxed, I know). Anyways, we ate dinner and played games and such, and then at 12a we lit off a ton of little fireworks and such and like literally the whole city Potosi was going, so it was pretty cool. Later we went back to the Zone Leaders house and slept for a little bit and then at 3a we had to go pick up some elders (who were traveling from Tupiza for their cambios). And then at 6:30a to take them and others to get taxis to Sucre. So we didn’t sleep much. After the others left, it was just me and Elder Tellez. We went to do a few more things for cambios, and then his companion arrived. Later after lunch, my comp (Elder Vergara) arrived and we made it out to Betanzos around 6:30ish. So miĆ©rcoles/Wedne...
