Hellos!!
THIS WEEK WAS AWESOME!!! Hahaha. We worked super hard and are seeing lots of
progress. Attitude is everything in the mission. A good attitude and hard work
will always bring good results. GOD IS GOOD.
We have several
awesome people preparing to be baptized soon. Nicol (13 years old)
is going to get baptized this Saturday. She’s incredibly smart and is really
taking this seriously. She is sooo ready to be baptized. We had a really good
talk, telling her to be nicer to her mom, because that’s what Christ would do and
if she wants to get baptized she needs to be more Christlike. She understood :)
and took it really well. She’s very mature. Mucha nicol (an expression
that means “way to go” “you’re awesome”).
Rainir is a
baller. He’s an industrial engineer and very smart. He’s planning to get
baptized the 21st. He just wants an answer from God to be sure. He’s reading
and praying every day. GOLD! He’s awesome.
We found this lady
named Alba on Wednesday.
She was like “What do
you guys have for me?”
Us: “Well, what are
you hoping for?”
Her: “I don’t know, good
news.”
Us: “We have a gift
for you FULL of good news. It’s called the Book of Mormon.”
I’m not really sure
why I said that but quickly found out. She got really
quiet and started crying. Then said, “I’ve been rebelling against God my whole
life, and lately I’ve been praying lots to know what God wants me to do. I
had a dream, and God sent me you guys (she saw us!), and God told me that
you’d give me a gift from Him.” WOW!! God is awesome! We had an awesome
lesson, and she is planning to be baptized the 28 of March. She came to church
on Sunday with her 3 grandkids!! Alba is the best. God is good. This is
His work, and we are only tools he uses to answer prayers.
We found lots of other
really awesome people this week. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. If you haven’t read
it, I strongly invite you to do so. It will change your life if you let it. We
are using the Book of Mormon a LOT. And it’s working miracles.
Craziest appointment
of my mission. We have this awesome family we’ve been visiting. It’s a grandma
(named Cecilia) and her 4 granddaughters. They are awesome. They are really
looking for the true church. We had an appointment, and we showed up a few
minutes late. Turns out, some preachers from another church had been knocking
doors on that same street, and the family thought they were us, just that we
sent different people. So when we showed up for the appointment, the other
preachers were in there teaching already. We sat down and immediately the other
guy started trying to prove their church was the true church. Okay. We let them
keep teaching, and then I began asking him a few questions (about things I’ve
learned must be part of the true church). I’ve studied a bit about their church
and know they claim to have an apostle. So I began asking about him, and
instantly he started on a spiel about how Joseph Smith is false. He didn’t answer
my question, so I asked it again. We weren’t really saying much, and this
guy was just going off. He wasn’t even focused on teaching the investigators
or anything; his only goal was to show how wrong we are. At some point, the
poor old grandma got way too into the conversation and got stressed out and....
she PASSED OUT! Hahaha. She was sitting on the bed with one of her
granddaughters, and then all a sudden she just fell back. AHHHH!! Haha. Her
granddaughters explained it’s totally normal and happens often. Man it was
crazy. The guy finally stopped talking for a second. She was out cold for a solid 5 minutes. After like 2 minutes the guy was like, “Anyways, as I
was saying…” WOW! I told him that’s enough and let’s leave. Hahahahaha.
While we were leaving, grandma woke up. We ushered the other preachers out, and
then we had a good lesson. Hahahaha. By far the craziest appointment I’ve ever
been in. Lessons learned: DON’T BE LATE TO APPOINTMENTS. Hahaha. Also, Bible
bashing ain't for the weak. Haha.
This week was awesome.
My companions are learning a lot. They are the best. Life is good. I’m
starting to imagine how nice it would be to never go home. I love it out
here.
