2020-02-03: Study and Apply the Scriptures

Elder Flores, Elder Sorensen, y Elder Ypushima
Hola hola!! This week was pretty good :) Still working good and finally starting to find a lot more and better people to teach.

A few good investigators we found:  We found a lady named Lady (haha) and her boyfriend Daniel. They go to a different church but are super interested. They had tons of questions and really want to learn about what we teach. While teaching them, Daniel read 2 entire pamphlets and the whole introduction to the Book of Mormon!!! WOW!! He began asking tons of really good questions. They are awesome.

Another lady we found is named Jennifer Lopez. Hahahaha, en serio (Seriously!). She also goes to a different church but really wanted to learn more, especially what doctrines the church is founded in. We had an awesome lesson with her, and she really wants to find the truth.

Also a lady named Erlinda, who was waiting for us when we went back to her house for the appointment. She is a teacher in the Catholic church and claims to know a lot about the Bible, but when we started teaching the Restoration and teaching about prophets and such, she learned a lot and loved it. :)

We found an awesome couple--Jefferson and Adriana. THEY ARE MARRIED!!!! (A miracle here in Colombia.) Haha. Adriana is super Catholic and loves the Catholics but also wants to find the truth and says she feels there is more truth out there that she hasn’t found. Jefferson is kind of interesting. He loves God and wants to learn about Him, but he doesn’t believe in churches and doesn’t see a need for them. He also refuses to read the scriptures (because they are made by man and can’t be from God, according to him). It was an interesting lesson, but they are very nice and like talking about God.

We also found this family that is pretty awesome. The dad isn’t super interested but wants his kids to learn. The mom is just starting to study with the Jehovah’s Witnesses but also listens to us. The 2 kids are 20 and 15. They are a lot more interested and were asking lots of questions and then both said, “What do we have to do to be missionaries like you guys?” WOOOO! Haha. They are awesome and really ready to act and do what we taught.

God is good. Lots of good appointments with awesome people makes the week pass faster and better. We had a zone conference on Thursday and the area president (Elder Alvarado) came. It was pretty good. It was awesome seeing the other guys that were in Bolivia before. We are working a lot better and set some pretty awesome goals for this week.

The Bible is the word of God. It is an outline of God’s actions with His children. The Bible truly helps us know God more and can help us improve our relationship with Him. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and helps us know Christ better and what we need to do to follow Him. WE NEED TO STUDY AND APPLY THEM BOTH. Without the Bible we would be lost. Without the Book of Mormon we would be lost. We need to learn from and study all the words God has given us. If you want to be better, you only need to study the scriptures better. I know the scriptures contain the words of God.

Les amo!!

2019-01-14: An Awesome Week!

This week was super duper awesome! We had an awesome baptism and worked really hard but also had tons of fun. I love being a missionary and helping other people find true happiness. Me and David. He is one month younger than me. Well ok, martes/Tuesday our district meeting was super good. (I love 1 Nephi 19:9 , it makes me think if Jesus did all that for me because He loves me and wants me to be happy, I should love Him too and try harder to do the things He asks of me. I also learned I should develop this love for other people and put their happiness and needs above my own.) Anyways, we got back to Potosi and then after lunch, went to work. We had several people with goals to be baptized the coming Saturday, so we really needed to meet with them. Well, we only found one of them (Remberto), and we had a super good lesson with him, but he is a little hesitant to be baptized because he wants a firm solid testimony before he makes that choice. We explained how that was good but ...

2019-01-21: Flying By

Hiking - Jan 14, 2019 pday activity Well, another awesome week flew by. It always seems like yesterday was just pday. Hahaha. Well martes, we did an intercambio/exchange (since my comp is district leader). So I was with Elder Nieto (from Ecuador) en Betanzos. We had lots of fun. We didn’t have any citas/appointments, but we had a ton of people to look for so that’s what we did, and it went pretty well. We ended up getting to teach a less-active member that we have been trying to meet with for a long time. It was interesting to see how things that happened sooo long ago still have effects and how this person is still holding on to those feelings. It made me think how I never want to be like that and how it will always be better to forgive and move on with life instead of holding feelings of anger. It was also cool because we shared Mosiah 2:41 , and it reminded me that the real true happiness we can feel will be when we are keeping the commandments from God and working to be...

2019-04-22: Holy Week

Well this week was sweet. It passed super fast. Ok so, martes/Tuesday we spent most of the day at Daniel’s house. He’s a member. He told us to be there at 8am, so that’s when we got there. Well, we kind of just prepared stuff, not really much until like 10a, and then they gave us a plate of food (like rice, papas/potatoes and pollo/chicken). Then about 10:30a we actually started working. We had like 5 guys mixing (dumping water, rock, sand, and cement into the mix). Then 4 guys were passing it up to the roof in buckets, and then 5 guys spreading it and packing it and such on the roof. We worked nonstop until 2:30ish (when we finished). I was the one taking the buckets from the mixer and passing them up to a guy above me on scaffolding. I actually enjoyed doing real physical work, even though it wore me out. Then they brought us a soup, and then a plate of arroz/rice, papas and some meat, and another plate of salad stuff, more papas, and more meat. It was pretty good, but I cou...
